A kitchen’s cabinet body, decorative front, worktop and hardware can have different materials. Confirm each component in the specification.
The visible finish
Look at the sample in the light you will live with.
Colour, texture, grain direction and reflections influence the finished kitchen. Discuss residential front options and the stainless worktop finish, then agree the actual sample and construction.
Steel grade
304 and 316: match the grade to the exposure.
304
Commonly considered indoors
Often considered for residential indoor stainless components. Suitability still depends on the environment, fabrication, component design and cleaning.
316
Considered for greater chloride exposure
Often considered where coastal salt or other chloride exposure is greater. It is not corrosion-proof, and the rest of the assembly still needs appropriate specification.
These are material-selection principles, not confirmation that every Anray component or outdoor configuration is available in either grade.
Before approval
A useful specification goes beyond “stainless steel”.
- Steel grade and actual panel construction for each component
- Worktop finish, grain direction, edge and sink arrangement
- Front construction, colour sample and hardware selection
- Appliance openings, ventilation and access
- Applicable material records, care guidance and agreed checking points
